ORDINANCE CREATING SECTION 5.14 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF CUBA CITY
The Common Council of the City of Cuba City do ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 5.14 of the Municipal Code of the City of Cuba City is hereby created as follows:
5.14 DRIVEWAY OPENINGS IN CURBS. Requirements for driveway openings in curbs shall be as follows: When
a driveway is to be constructed or modified that requires an opening in
an existing curb and gutter, the curb and gutter shall be removed by
means of mechanically grinding or precision saw cutting. In the case of
an existing driveway opening/curb cut, the Director of Public Works
can grant a variance to allow the owner to match the existing conditions
of the curb cut. The removal of this curb and gutter shall be
accomplished in such a way as to avoid any damage to the existing curb
and gutter or the existing pavement/crushed stone. This work must be
completed by a qualified contractor approved by the Director of Public
Works. All curb and gutter removed for the construction of a driveway
shall be restored in compliance with applicable City of Cuba City
specifications within 30 days of the commencement of work. The City
shall provide a detail of the final dimensions and shape of the curb cut.
Driveway widths are limited to the width of the garage at the street line,
not to exceed 36', and are limited to 6' wider than the garage at the back
of the curb, not to exceed 42'. A permit shall be required and shall be
obtained from the City prior to commencement of work. The permit fee
shall be $5.
