Mayor's Message

The reorganization meeting for the council was held on April 16.  The city committees are reviewed and reassigned annually.  The new council alderman, Ryan Gerhards, was placed on the ordinance, sanitation and police committees.  Rachel Mahun, John Berg, and Cameo Updike-Ames are new members on various committees.  I would like to thank everyone for accepting their assignment and giving back to the community.

Officer Jorgenson of the Police Department has completed his training and now is working independently.  Donation request for K-9 Thor have been sent out.  Special thanks to Cuba City Family Dental and Casey-McNett Funeral Home for purchasing new body cameras for the department.

At Splinter Park the bids for the restroom/concession pavilion are going out.  The final coat of blacktop and marking will be done the first part of June.  The water tower has been pressured washed.  This is a project we do every 5 years.

The state has done some boring on Main Street in preparation for the Main Street improvement in 2028.  Cuba City is also working with Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Rep. Derrick Van Orden for grant money for Main Street.  The bid for Model Road improvement project has been awarded.

The Board of Public Works met April 30 at the Fire House to discuss updates to the building.  Five members of the fire department were also present.  An independent contractor gave a list of the items and a budget cost.  This now must go to the city council for approval.  Their new truck should be coming in June or July.

The building at 204 South Main has been razed.  Phase 2 will now be conducted by the DNR to see if the city has any choice in determining what can be done with the land.  The cost of the razing has been covered by TID 3 funds.

The Epione facility has also been razed.  The redevelopment of this site has been discussed at several public meetings and surveys.  The consultants will provide concept drawings based on this information.  This concept is covered by a $20,000 TAG grant from the DNR and EPA.  A portion of the cost for razing  was covered by a $150,000 grant received from WEDC.
