WELCOME TO CUBA CITY
"THE CITY OF PRESIDENTS"
Merry Christmas to Everyone
December 5, 2014
It is a special time in Cuba City this year as we get ready for Christmas. We just completed a great Small Business Saturday and all the retail businesses had great days. I would like to thank our economic development director Taylor Gronau and the executive director of the Cuba City Chamber of Commerce Doug Collins for a job well done. With everyone working together, we can accomplish great things.
Christmas is less than three weeks away and it is a very busy time for everyone. Cuba City is planning an all new celebration this year. The date will be December 13th and should be a fun day. The Chamber of Commerce has many events planned for the day and will end with a Christmas Glow Parade at 5:30 PM on Washington Street. After the parade, Santa will be at Boy’s Detailing building across from Thompson’s IGA. There will be a Christmas tree judging, snacks, and hot drinks for everyone. The drawing for chamber gift certificates will follow. You must be present to win. Please come out and enjoy the day in Cuba City’s Christmas Glow Celebration.
There has been a lot of things that have happened in Cuba City since my last article. Our Community Center project was defeated in the November 4th election. I want to thank the committee for all the work they have done over the last four years. Countless hours were put in to this and Tim Hazen and his committee should be commended for their time and effort.
Two things I have mentioned in previous articles are finally going to become a reality. The new street lights have arrived and they are scheduled to be put up on December 8th. This will be a great improvement to our Main Street along with the façade improvements that are being done. The second thing that we hope will be going live will be our new website. The finishing touches are almost completed and we hope to release it before Christmas. Please watch for this!
With 2014 coming to an end, there has been a lot of positive things that have happened in Cuba City. I hope we can continue to bring more in 2015. Cuba City is a great place to live and raise a family. Working together, things will continue to get better.
I will close by wishing everyone in Cuba City a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2015. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your mayor. I have learned a lot and so thankful to the Common Council, the city employees, and all volunteers of the fire department and rescue squad for all you do for Cuba City.
